Jackson County Education Foundation, Inc.

What is the Jackson County Education Foundation?

  • Established July 1, 2013
  • This program is a state funded dollar for dollar matching program
  • Must be a county wide program
  • It is governed by the 21 members of the board of directors that have final decisions for which grants will be funded
  • Enhances education for the students in Jackson County (not just the Marianna area)
  • 501 (C) (3) Organization
  • Not to take money away from school groups
  • To initiatives when budgets fall short or tax dollars won't allow
  • Mini-grants written by teachers

Why establish a county wide foundation?

  • Jackson County has missed out on more than $100,000 in matching funds (since 2001) from School District Education Foundation Matching Grant Programs
  • Our money has been given to other counties because the legislature earmarks money annually for this program
  • Double your money
  • Matching money must be submitted by September 3, 2013
  • Matching funds eligible for 2013-2014 in round one is $17,627.41.  Even if we raise only $2,000 the state will match that $2,000
  • Start raising money for the 2014-2015 matching funds on September 10, 2013
  • Round two is money that the counties cannot match which is given to counties that have the funds to match
